When walking into a restaurant for the first time you never know exactly what to expect. There were a group of people eating at a table, which is always a good sign; The door was open, which makes the restaurant seem very welcoming;
The owner was extremely nice and the smells were AMAZING!
I had no idea what it would look like on the inside but since I am from Chicago and have been to a fair share of Chicago Style Gyros restaurants, I assumed it would be an outdated takeout place with a couple of tables with some dingy lighting. This place was the opposite though. It is mainly a takeout place, but it is welcoming enough to sit down and eat. The decor isn't dated and the restaurant was very well lit.
I ordered a gyro (because you have to try a gyro from a restaurant that has gyro in the title) along with some fries. The ordering experience is done like Subway. There is a glass barrier separating you from all the different toppings. They asked me what I wanted on the gyro, but I just told them to give me what normally comes on it since I wanted an authentic experience.
I decided to get the gyro to-go because I was just ready to get home after a long day of work. But in my opinion, there are some types of food that are just meant to be eaten while you're chilling on your couch. The presentation was well done. I liked it a lot. Most people tend to throw to-go orders together, but there was definitely some thought put into the presentation on this one. It was simple, but sometimes it's the small things in life that matter.

Now I am sure you are wondering how the food taste. Well first off, let me tell you that the name of the restaurant is definitely misleading! I have had many Chicago-Style Gyro experiences and this was not one of those.
Top Reasons Chicago-Style Gyro Isn't Chicago-Style
They were selling fresh baklava
There menu wasn't ridiculously large
The menu wasn't illuminated with a back light
The naan bread was authentic
The gyro was able to fully close
The person taking my order was nice and didn't rush me
That being said. I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that the gyro was authentic. To be honest, most Chicago-Style Gyros are filled to the brim with meat. To the point where you can't even close it and you have to awkwardly tilt your head sideways in order to get a bite. But this gyro was filled with tzatziki sauce and veggies. I thought that there wasn't enough meat on the sandwich at first, but then I got the last couple bites and noticed that I could barely finish it. The veggies that were put on the gyro (green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce) paired perfectly with the lamb meat. It was a moment. The fries were also seasoned with some delicious spices. I have no idea what kind of spices they used, but it made my tastebuds do a little dance.
I would definitely go back there again. I actually did go back there again the next day.

I went to get a Gyro Burger which I thought was gyro meat placed on top of a hamburger, but a Gyro Burger is actually a gyro but with a hamburger bun instead of naan. It was delicious, but definitely not what I wanted. I am curious to see what a burger topped with gyro meat tastes like, so I will make it my mission to go back there and order the correct item sometime this week!
